LP Review: "Deceases" by Morbid Evils

Deceases
Under extreme duress, the human mind can slow down time.

When that happens to me, it's like Phillip J Fry on 100 cups of coffee. It's frankly one of my most endearing and useful psychological abnormalities.

Overly stressful situations do not tax me like they do others.

In my mind, I question where this particular ability came from. Was it from years of disassociation, a defense mechanism?

However, the most plausible explanation would be the teachings of Surak and The Time of Awakening on the planet Vulcan, as told by Star Trek.

We all know that Vulcans are logical beings rather than emotional, but it's not that they have no emotions, but they are able to master them. In times of crisis, my emotions are buried deep down so we can live to dissect them....

Morbid Evils
Morbid Evils has granted those of us who cannot slow down time a glimpse into that world.

If a recording is slowed down, the sounds grow lower, the inverse of speeding them to get higher voices.

(Who among us hasn't gotten chipmunk voices via playing 33s at 45RPM?)

There's little of the ringing that slow, oily, metal typically has.

It does plod, that's certainly true, but the riffs are clear, and low.

The drums and the rhythm guitars lock in perfectly. They're more in synch my iPhone and my iTunes library. Because of this, each note and drum beat takes on a far greater importance than were they not connected like Siamese Twins.

This album, and band, is more than just simple crushing riffs. There are little peeks behind the veil. Morbid Evils is capable of much and these little glimpses add to the power of the record. Imagine if a song started out with a drone that wouldn't seem out of place on an Atmospheric Black Metal Record...and then changed it back...

Then you've got the idea.
